Beautiful Beads!

Ok I'm not a fan of the lampwork beads but!!! there are a few artist that make lampwork beads "ROCK". Kerry from Kab's Creative Concepts has it going on with her beautiful plaid lampwork beads. About a month ago she post some on her blog. I took one look and said " Damn those are going to sell" I love the color blend with her "Silent Cinema Sequel" beads.

Moooooooo!

Yesterday on MSNBC the asked the question"Organic milk: Are the benefits worth the cost?" Hmm... First I didn't like MSNBC asking the question but I read the article anyway. I was right they gave the view they want you to hear. They question what "grazing time" means and throw in the word "assume" to make you question your choice. Did they bother to tell you about the lives of the cows that don't get "grazing time?" No! Wonder why not.

Lighter Footprint....

Go Further is a wonderful film. I found a copy at the local library. The Film shares ideas and shows some alternatives to environmental destruction. Also check out Voice Yourself! This site has it all on the environment. Also check out the Vegan recipes. I want to try the Chocolate of the Gods Mousse.

Ok Lone Beader I've given Meesh something to be happy about.

Question: Do you think that Blue Jean manufactures are environmentally friendly companies?

This Mommy has had enough!

Yes folks this Mother has had enough. If you are a low life human step aside because I've had enough. If you are a dumb ass woman that follows instead of leads step aside.

In the last two days I've read things that have totally put me off. First Texas paid 19.5 million for the trouble going on down in Houston. Houston took in the Katrina victims and the whole city fell victim. Go look up the murder rate there right now. Stupid. 19.5 million because some people don't know how to act. On so many levels that's crap.

Now to the thing that put me over the cliff. I went to the Cool Single Mom's blog this morning. A friend and fellow service man's son died in Iraq. The Funeral was protested by soulless people. They dress their kids in T-shirts that say " God hates Soldiers". There is nothing funny about a stupid Mother putting that shirt on their child and going to a fallen soldiers funeral. Nothing!

Mr. Phelps you sir are a coward. I'm sorry you have a problem with humans being gay but that's not your business, it's theirs. Also read all the words in the bible, not just the ones that you can bend. To your followers, Wake up! Everything on this planet was made by God there for it is God. When you bad mouth other humans you bad mouth God. Why is that so damn hard to get. Oh...I forgot Mr. Phelps used the oldest trick in the book, the fear of Satan.

I'm rocked! At the age of 39 I had a daughter Trinity. I will be lucky if I live to see her be my age. I'm so mad at myself because I brought her into a world that disrespects everything.

I keep telling myself that this stupid shit from stupid people. But I'm drawing a line in the sand. I've had enough!

Back to School Cookies

Just thought this would be a good time to share this. My family love these cookies. I think my recipe came from Better Homes and Garden but I can't tell you when.

Oaty Doodle

2 cups rolled Oats
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 cup wheat flour
4 tsp. ground cinnamon
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. cream of tartar
1/2 cup butter, softened
1/2 cup butter-flavor shortening
1 1/2 cups sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
1/4 tsp. salt
1/3 cup sugar (for rolling cookies)

  • Preheat oven to 400 degrees
  • In a food processor process oats until finely ground.
  • In a bowl combine ground oats, flours, cinnamon, baking soda, cream of tartar, and salt.
  • In a mixing bowl beat butter and shortening with a mixer on medium to high speed for 30 seconds. Add 1 1/2 cups of sugar ; beat until combined. Beat in eggs and vanilla.
  • Slowly beat in the flour mixture.
  • Using a heaping spoonful for each, roll dough into a ball; then roll in 1/3 cup of sugar.
  • Place on cookie sheet and bake for 8 to 10 minutes.
  • Let stand 1 minute on cookie sheet and then cool on wire rack.

Enjoy!

Beads!!!

So what is your favorite Bead? Can't name just one? Me neither!

Why do we love Beads ? My husband's thoughts are that a beautiful necklace makes a woman shine. Ok I might give him a good grade for that thought. To me the way women dress and wear jewelry is a statement of where they are at in that moment in time.

Let take the little black dress. They say every woman has one. So if every woman has one it's the jewelry we wear that makes us look less like clones. The Beads and the metal become center stage.

You have been given the project of making a jewelry set for a little black dress. So what do you make? You have no idea where this dress is going or what it will be doing.

Maybe the dress is going on a first date.
Maybe it's going on a hot date.
Maybe its going to something it's mother said would be fun.
Maybe it's going to fire someone at work.

The Beads and metal bounce around in the mind and come up with different results. But it's just Beads and wire. Do they change the attitude of the person wearing them?

I ask myself these questions while I'm making jewelry. Like does the designer and the wearer share a mind thing because they both picked this piece? Hmmm there's a thought. Or maybe they see different things.

What is the saying "Beauty is in the Eye of the Beholder"
